The preparation room

Analyst: make your experience clear.

Show the quality of your analysis and the care behind your work.

Educational guidance, not current vacancies or a universal career ladder. Titles and responsibilities vary by firm. Examples are fictional illustrations, not actual candidates or ESP placements.

Responsibilities to clarify

  • Financial analysis and model support
  • Research and presentation preparation
  • Transaction coordination and attention to detail

What your résumé should make clear

  • Explain the analysis you personally completed, the assumptions you checked, and who used the output.
  • Separate coursework, internships, and full-time experience. Name only tools you can discuss confidently.
  • Describe how you checked accuracy and responded to feedback.

Fictional example bullet

Prepared debt-service comparison schedules for a financing presentation; reconciled source data and documented assumptions for senior review.

Use this structure, not someone else's experience. Replace it with work you actually did and can explain.

A useful résumé outline

  1. Name, city, contact details, and a professional profile link.
  2. A short summary of your function, market experience, and relevant strengths.
  3. Experience in reverse chronological order: employer, title, dates, and evidence of your contribution.
  4. A separate, permission-safe transaction summary when appropriate.
  5. Education, tools, and accurate current credentials. Verify any role-specific licensing requirements with the employer.

Questions worth asking

  • How is analytical work reviewed?
  • What training and transaction exposure does the team provide?
  • What would a strong first six months look like?

Before sharing: remove client-confidential information, personal identifiers you do not need to disclose, references' private contact details, and material your employer does not authorize you to share.
