My client has public finance offices from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans. They have a retail sales force of over 1,000 plus institutional sales and trading in NYC and Los Angeles. Their bankers' compensation is a uniquely formula based payout. The formula is simply your Gross revenues, less expenses, (salary, T&E, etc) which gives you a net revenue and you are paid a percentage of that number.
